FAQs

WHO IS THE PHOTOGRAPHER AT THE SUNSET SHOP?
All photos are photographed, owned, and copyrighted by Kristen M. Brown (me!). You can learn more about Kristen on the About page, and be sure to follow her sunset chasing adventures on Instagram @sambatothesea!
DOES KRISTEN SIGN THE PRINTS?
Prints are digitally signed on the front of the print and some are hand signed and stamped on the back of the print.

CAN I PURCHASE THE HIGH-RES IMAGE AND PRINT ON MY OWN?
We are humbled by this request, but we hold all rights to the usage of our images and they are protected by U.S. and international copyright laws. Any images on our site are protected under copyright and can NOT be used in any way without written consent of Samba to the Sea LLC.
WHAT TYPE OF PAPER WILL MY PHOTO BY PRINTED ON?
Prints are printed with a thin white border around the image on high-quality, archival lustre photo paper (Kodak Endura Professional Paper) and ready for you to frame! Standard Archival Value of 100 years in home display and 200 years in dark storage.

WHAT PRINT SIZE IS BEST FOR MY SPACE?
Too big, too small....and just right! Did you know there's a trick to determining what size artwork will look best hung on your wall? Yep, because there's nothing like buying a piece of artwork, hanging it on your wall, only to realize the proportions don't look right...or worse, it's way too small for the space...duoh!!!

The trick is the following...any piece of artwork that you would like to hang centered above a piece of furniture (i.e. couch, bed) should be minimum 2/3rds the width of the piece of furniture. Click here to read this great blog post for more!

DO YOU DO CUSTOM PRINT AND FRAMING SIZES?

Heck yes! We love working with our customers on custom prize size print and framing projects! If you already have an existing frame that's not a standard size or a unique sized space where you'd like to hang a print, please contact us to get started on your custom print project!

I JUST COMPLETED MY ORDER. WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?
Print only orders: Please allow up to 5 business days for your print order to be printed and shipped. To expedite your order, please contact us.
Print + Frame orders: Please allow 5-7 business days for the image to be printed, framed, and shipped. To expedite your order, please contact us.
CAN I GET MY ORDER EXPEDITED?

We work hard to get orders out the door fast. However we do accept rush orders and can rush shipping for an additional cost. Please contact us at to see if we can help you with your urgent custom printing and/or framing project.

WHAT KIND OF FRAMES ARE YOU USING?
The frames are of the highest quality, produced by manufacturers here in the U.S.A. We would not settle for anything less and neither should you. To protect your art over time, the frame is sealed with a custom, kraft paper 3/16 foam backing and fitted with either a sawtooth hanger, sturdy wire, or dual-nail hanging system depending on the size of the frame.

WHAT TYPE OF GLASS DO YOU USE?
We use framing acrylic. Acrylic offers the beautiful clarity of the finest picture frame glazing at half the weight of glass and many times the impact resistance. It is the preferred material for larger framed art and provides the safety warranted in high traffic areas. It is the ideal glazing material for museums, galleries, and homes.

WHY IS ADDING A MAT MORE EXPENSIVE?

Effectively, the cost of adding a custom mat bumps you up 1 size e.g. 8x10 print + mat = 11x14 framed print.

The mats we use are completely archival: 4-ply, acid-free and containing a white core. This means they don't come cheap, but that’s not all you pay for when you add a mat. When you add a mat you are making your entire piece larger, up to the next size. This will make your walls happier, but it also means we use more frame moulding, more acrylic, more packaging, and more of every other material in your custom frame.

HOW DO I CARE FOR MY FRAME?

To clean your framed piece, follow these dos and don’ts:

  • DO remove dust by blowing on it.
  • DO NOT use your hand or a dry cloth to remove dust.
  • DO clean by using a small amount of mixture of mild soap or detergent and lukewarm water. Use a clean, soft cloth or sponge. Dry by blotting gently with a lint-free cloth. Instead of soap, you can also use a cleaner designed for acrylic surfaces.
  • DO NOT use a household cleaner like Windex or products that contains ammonia.
  • DO NOT use any abrasive material while cleaning your (plexi)glass, it can scratch the surface.

HOW ARE THE SHIRTS MADE? WHAT ARE THEY MADE OF?
Each shirt is made sustainably and responsibly as it is custom made to order, meaning that your shirt is made just for you (or a gift for your sunset chaser BFF!!!). Please refer to the details in each tee listing for materials -- most are 99% combed + ring-spun cotton and 1% polyester.

WHAT IS YOUR RETURN POLICY?
*If you're having a hard time picking which print(s) to bring home with you, I'm stoked to offer sample prints! I know how hard it can be with so many pretty prints to pick from here at The Sunset Shop -- true story, it once took me 3 hours to pick new prints for surf casita in my tropical home base of Costa Rica.

So what are sample prints? Sample prints are smaller sized 4"x6" prints, perfect to help you physically see my prints in your space -- like how you would sample paint colors on your wall! Pick between 2-5 sample prints of your favorite photos here at The Sunset Shop. Click here to find out more about the sample print packs.

WHAT IF THE COLOR OF THE PRINT OR PRODUCT LOOKS DIFFERENT FROM THE COLOR OF THE IMAGES ON THE WEBSITE?

The color settings and the type of your computer monitor, tablet, or phone screen that you use to view your image have an influence on the perception of how your image should look. You should be aware that images viewed in the majority of web browsers are not color accurate, and that prints may look slightly different. There is also a variation between different paper types. If precise colors are important for you, you should contact us for more information before placing your order. As we cannot guarantee the accuracy of your monitor, we will not accept color reproduction as a valid reason for return.
